Lucaino Spalletti exits Napoli planning to take a break
Luciano Spalletti exits Napoli after the club had its long last title winner, by the end of the season he decides to take a break out from the career. “I need to take some time to rest because I’m pretty tired,” he said.
“I don’t know if you can call it a year’s sabbatical but I won’t be working. I won’t be coaching Napoli or any other team.”
Spalletti have been the manager of Napoli club since July 2021 and have a year left on his deal. Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis said he would respect the decision. On his interview with broadcaster, he said, “He’s a free man, he’s given us something and I thank him, it’s right that he does what he wants.”
“In June last year I held a press conference. We had got rid of many players who were considered important, but for me had finished their time at Napoli.
“The journalists asked me, considering all the farewells, what I was thinking of aiming for this season and I said I thought we could win the Scudetto. There was total shock, even Spalletti looked at me in shock, because he didn’t know who we had bought.
“He has been a great coach to these lads. Coaches are divided into those who want to control the transfer market and those who get down to coaching. We gave him some extraordinary material to work with and he helped them improve.”
The match with Salernitana has concluded in a draw, with one goals on the each side, which made a delay for Napoli to win the title, but eventually succeeded in it.
Luciano’s Journey in the season
After he took incharge of Napoli club, the club had played a total of 95 matches out of which 61 proved to be a victory, 16 to be concluded in loses and 18 concluded in a draw. He has given a win percentage of 64.21% for the club.
Eventhough his takeover had a trophyless on that year, Napoli was positioned as the third in the Serie A on the year he took incharge, securing champions league qualifications after two years.
By the end of the season, many players like Kalidou left the club, he brought in players such as Giacomo Raspadori, Khvicha Kvartskhelia, Giovanni Simeone and Kim Min-Jae. By the way Khvicha Kvartskhelia was planned by PSG for replacements in transfers.
On the sept 7th, Napoli began their champions league season by defeating Liverpool with 4-1 and continuing with defeating Ajax with 6-1. After that it was the first defeat for Napoli against Liverpool in home away match which is the first defeat in the season.
On 23rd October, they set up a record breaking the record of Mardona in 1986 having 11 victories in a row, beating Roma with 1-0 and cleared to top of Serie A table. On January 2023, Napoli Crushed rivals 5-1, Juventus in Serie A since 1993, as well as Napoli’s 10th home win in all competitions.
On 9 June 2017, Spalletti was confirmed as the new manager of Inter after signing a two-year contract. This came after he travelled to Nanjing, China, to hold talks with Zhang Jindong, managing director of Suning Holdings Group, majority owner of Inter.
On 29 July, Spalletti won the International Champions Cup friendly tournament in Singapore after defeating Lyon, Bayern Munich and Chelsea. On 20 August, Spalletti won his first league match with Inter after defeating Fiorentina 3–0 at the San Siro.
On 26 August, he won his second match with Inter against his former club Roma, 1–3. On 3 December, Inter took first place, after 12 victories and 3 draws, with a 5–0 win over Chievo Verona. Inter retained their first place after a 0–0 draw against Juventus, thus becoming the only Italian team still undefeated after the first 16 weeks.
They Also had Victory against Eintracht Frankfurt on the UEFA champions league in the round of 16 with 2-0 giving a upper hand on the first leg and having a victory against them in second leg with a total aggregate of 5-0 advancing to the quarter finals but eventually lost the quarter finals match with Milan.
