John McGinn renews contract with Villa on a four year contract

As the summer transfer windows is online, John McGinn renews contract with Villa for four years and will stay in Premier league club until 2027.

John McGInn renews contract with Villa for four yearsThe Scotland midfielder 28, joined villa in 2018 from Hibernian. He scored the decisive second goal in the 2019 championship play-off final to earn Villa promotion back to the premier league and been the star player in the top flight.

The move from his previous club to villa park has proved to be excellent choice. “He immediately endeared himself to the Villa support with his all-action displays in the middle of the park. One of the first names on the teamsheet ever since, the firm fans’ favourite was named club captain last summer,” the club said in a statement. Manchester City treble winner captain Ilkay Gundagon leaves the club and joins Barcelona on a free transfer.

McGinn is gearing up for Villa’s first European campaign since the 2010-11 season, following their qualification for the Europa Conference League.

“Aston Villa is delighted to announce captain John McGinn has signed a new, long-term contract with the club,” read a statement on Villa’s official website.”The midfielder’s new deal will see him remain at Villa Park until 2027.”Villa are currently on their summer break, but will return to pre-season training next month before beginning the 2023-24 Premier League campaign away to Newcastle United on August 12.

Manchester city agrees to sign a deal for Chelsea’s Mateo Kovacic for 30 million Euros on the summer transfer windows. Arsenal agrees to sign Kai Havertz from Chelsea on 65 million euros on the summer deal.

John McGinn about the contract

John McGinn was happy about extending the contract and said, “If we perform like we did in the second half of the season, there’s no reason why we can’t compete for trophies.

“That’s what the club needs to aim for. We need to get success back – European football is part of that but the club needs trophies. The fans crave it.”

He continued: “There have been plenty of ups and downs, but I’ve loved every minute of it, and we’ve been pretty successful.

“The first season couldn’t have gone any better and we managed to get promoted. We found the Premier League challenging.

“We’ve had some great moments. This season epitomised what everyone wants to achieve and showed the potential and ambition everyone has.

“We’re really starting to achieve that with the manager and staff in place. It’s exciting for the fans and exciting to be a player here.”
