Modric signs One year deal at Real Madrid
The Crotian midfielder, whose contract is set to expire has extend his deal for one more year until the summer of 2024. He had been said to move to the Saudi Arabia’s pro league.
Luka Modric, 37, has made 488 appearances for Real, winning three La Liga titles and the Champions League five times since arriving from Tottenham in 2012.
He also won the Ballon d’Or in 2018 as Croatia reached the World Cup final.
Following an announcement of his new contract in the Spanish capital, Modric wrote “Home Sweet Home,” on Twitter.
He follows Toni Kroos, Dani Ceballos and Nacho Fernandez in extending their contracts with the club this summer and is still regarded as a key player for the 14-time European champions.

Modric has been a written legend for Los Blancos, since his arrival at Real Madrid in 2012, the Croat has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the world by glorifying the club.
He has made a total 473 appearances for the Madrid giants, scoring 37 goals and providing 76 assists. The 37-year-old, however, has not been an undisputed starter for Real Madrid this season. He has made 37 appearances, 25 of which have come as starters in the playing XI.
Luka Modric has been a lynchpin of the Real Madrid midfield for the last decade. Alongside Toni Kroos and Casemiro, the trio formed one of the midfields in recent footballing history.
Together, they won a plethora of trophies while wearing the famous white shirt. However, their era is now over, with the Brazilian having left last summer to join Manchester United. Toni Kroos also extends one year of the contract with Real Madrid so that he could follow him out of the door at the end of this season.
Modric has been linked with a move to Al-Nassr, which would see him link up with former Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, and that may be his choice if he is let go from the reigning Spanish and European champions.

Luka Modric is a Real Madrid midfielder who has taken part in the vast majority of the club’s LaLiga games in 2022/2023, making 33 appearances overall and accumulating 1,745 minutes of playing time. He has started in 19 of these appearances across their 38 fixtures and been used as a substitute on 14 occasions.
The last LaLiga appearance that Modric made came on June 4 for Real Madrid versus Athletic Club; a game that he played 16 minutes in during a 1-1 draw. The midfielder has netted four LaLiga goals this season. He has been shown seven yellow cards.
Modric was last on target in the league in the 4-0 win against Elche on February 15, netting in the 80th minute. He opened his account for the campaign against Celta de Vigo on August 20, scoring during a 4-1 victory.
In last season’s Primera División, Modric appeared in 28 games for Real Madrid, scored two goals and provided eight assists.
Modric moved to Real Madrid in August 2012 from Tottenham Hotspur, for whom he made 127 league appearances in total, scoring 13 goals and providing 20 assists.
It was on September 2, 2012 that Modric made his LaLiga debut, aged 26 years and -7 days, versus Granada. Overall, in his LaLiga career, he has appeared 327 times in the competition, with 26 goals and 51 assists.
