The England batter Joe Root has regained the No:1 spot in the ICC Test rankings ending Kane Williamson’s reign as top batter in Tests. Joe Root’s rise during the test series against West Indies helped him regain the crown in the ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings.
Root had a cumulative score of 291 runs over three matches against the Caribbean side and his efforts of 87 in the third test in Birmingham allowed the 33-year-old to surpass Kane Williamson.

The former England captain became the No:1 batter back in August 2015 and his latest effort against West Indies helped to climb to the top.
Men’s Test Batter Rankings
Kane Williamson dropped to second place in the Test rankings as the result of Root’s rise and Pakistan’s Babar Azam secured third place along with New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell. Australia’s Steven Smith stands fifth while Rohit Sharma stands in sixth position. Harry Brook falls short to seventh following a low performance against West Indies.
England captain Ben Stokes gains four places on the list for Test batters to rise to 30th following his fastest fifty in the third test against West Indies.
Men’s Test Bowler Rankings
Mark Wood secured the 20th spot. Gus Atkinson moved four places to secure the 46th position after his seven-wicket haul during the first test against West Indies.
The West Indies bowler Jayden Seales has improved in the bowler rankings to 26th position. This is a new career-high rating on the back of his three wickets in the first innings against England and had picked up 13 wickets in the series.
Men’s Test All-rounder Rankings
Stokes moved one position up and secured sixth while Chris Woakes secured ninth position moving three positions on the list of played-in Test all-rounders to surge in the rankings. Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja continues to remain at the top with a comfortable lead.
