The England Cricket Board (ECB) has refused to host the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 playoffs due to the unavailability of the grounds. PSL 2025 is set to collide with IPL during April-May next year.
PSL usually takes place in February, but due to the champions trophy being held in February. Pakistan has no option but to schedule the league at the same time as the IPL. The PCB’s higher authorities have considered relocating the PSL playoffs to a different nation, mainly in England, but as per the latest reports, the ECB has rejected the idea.
Pakistan Cricket Board that key players will choose IPL over PSL due to higher salaries. The viewership of the playoffs will decline if the matches take place during the same time. Hence, with the 5-hour time difference between Pakistan and England, PCB wanted to protect the PSL viewership.
PCB will be hoping to take the league to UAE but the excessive heat during the period of April-May has raised a few issues. Talking about the Pakistan National Team, they are set to play a two-match Test series against Bangladesh starting on August 21. They will be playing three Test matches against the visiting Indian team, and visit Australia for 3rd T20I and as many ODIs in November.
Pakistan will face South Africa in all format tours, including three T20s, three ODIs, and two tests, from December 10 to January 07. They will be hosting the West Indies for a two-test series before playing a tri-nation series with New Zealand and South Africa from January 16 to February 14.
Following that, the Champions Trophy 2025 in February and March, and will be touring New Zealand from March 16 to April 05 before PSL 2025.
