Christopher Roger Woakes is an English Cricketer who plays for England across all formats, represents Warwickshire and also plays t20 leagues across the globe. He has also played for Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League.
Chris Woakes plays primarily as a team batsman, having scored many runs for domestic and international cricket teams. He is a brilliant outfield player and can set up anywhere on the ground.

Chris Woakes Early Life and Journey
Chris Woakes was born in March 1989 in Birmingham and attended Barr Beacon Language College in Walsall from 2000 to 2007. He began his cricketing journey at seven years old with Four Oaks Saints Cricket Club.
He played three games in the 2006 minor Counties Trophy for Herefordshire County Cricket Club and played for Warwickshire’s U-15, U-17, academy, and Second Xl teams between 2004 and 2007.

Chris Woakes made his FC debut during the match between West Indies A and Warwickshire at Birmingham on August 02 -04, 2006. He picked up three wickets in the match.
Chris Woakes made his List A match debut during the match between Sussex and Warwickshire at Birmingham on August 19, 2007, while made his T20 match debut during the match against Warwickshire and Glamorgan at Cardiff on June 11, 2008.
- Woakes was a regular for the Warwickshire First Xl in 2008. He picked up 42 wickets at an average of 20.57 runs per wicket throughout the County Championship season.
- The Wizard was called up to the England Lions squad and made his Lions debut against West Indies, taking 6/43 in the first innings of the match. In the same season, he scored 131* against Hampshire, his maiden FC century, batting at number nine and sharing a 222-run partnership with Jonathan Trott.
- Woakes claimed his 200th FC wicket during the County Championship match against Sussex in July 2011.
- During the 2017 season, Woakes joined Kolkata Knight Riders to take 17 wickets in 13 matches, with the best figures of 3/6.
- In the 2018 IPL auction, he was sold to Royal Challengers Bangalore, playing five matches and taking eight wickets in the IPL. He went unsold in the 2019 IPL auction.
- In the IPL 2020 auction, he was bought by Delhi Capitals but was pulled out of the tournament. He withdrew from the tournament to keep himself fresh for the England Test season. Delhi retained him for the 2021 season.
- In April 2022, he joined Birmingham Phoenix for The Hundred 2022 season.

Test Career
Chris Woakes made his Test match debut against Australia in the final Test of the 2013 Ashes series, taking 1/96 in the first innings.
- In 2014, Woakes played his first test during the third match against India.
- He was part of the test side against South Africa in 2015/16.
- He made his first test century (137*) against India at Lord’s in August 2018, the ground where two years earlier he had his best match figures with the ball of 11/102 against Pakistan.
- In June 2020, Woakes was included in England’s 30-man squad to start training for the test series against West Indies.
- During the first test, he picked his 100th wicket in Test matches.
- In 2023, Woakes was recalled to the Ashes 2023 for the 3rd Test where he picked three wickets in each innings. In the second innings, he hit the winning runs of 32* and forged a 59-run partnership with Harry Brook.
- He put up a stunning performance in the match, picking crucial wickets at key stages, and dismissing 19 batters in 6 innings he played. Woakes was named as the Player of the series.

Chris Woakes made his ODI debut on the same tour on January 23, 2011, at Sydney. Meanwhile, he picked the second ODI taking figures of 6/45.
- The Wizard returned to the England setup in 2012 during an ODI series against South Africa and continued to feature in the ODI squad against India and New Zealand in 2013.
- Woakes became a regular for England’s ODI side and was selected in the ODI squad that toured Sri Lanka towards the end of 2014 where he picked a six-wicket haul for 47 runs in the fifth match of the series, a bowling spell that was nominated to be one of the best ODI bowling performance of the year.
- He was named in the England squad for the 2015 Cricket World Cup, but due to injury, he missed the final match for England in the tournament.
- Chris Woakes was part of the England squad which played the ODI series against Australia, and Pakistan in 2015/16. His score and Sam Curran are the joint-highest ODI score by number eight or lower in ODI history.
- During the first ODI match against Sri Lanka played on June 21, 2016, he smashed his highest ODI score of 95* runs
