Amadou Onana is a professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder. He was born to a Senegalese mother and a Cameroonian father. Club Career
Onana joined Bundesligaa Club Hamburger SV in 2020. He made his professional debut for Hamburger in the 2020-21 season DFB-Pokal on September 14, 2020, came in as a substitute in the 60th minute during the match against Dynamo Dresden. He scored a header in the 89th minute, however, the side lost the match 4-1.
In August 2021, he joined Ligue 1 club Lille on a five-year deal where he made 32 appearances in 2021-22 and scored only once.
He signed for Everton on a five-year contract on August 09, 2022, for 33 million Euros including an add-on. His first goal came from the match against Southampton in January 2023. Onana scored from the corner by header, but the side suffered a 2-1 defeat at home.
He missed the winning penalty for Everton in the 2023-24 EFL Cup in the quarter-final match against Fulham. Everton had the upper hand with 4-3 penalty standings, but Onana missed the shoot and Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno saved the attempt. On July 22, 2024, Onana joined Aston Villa on a five-year deal for 50 Million Euros.

International Career
On May 18, 2022, Onana was named in the Belgium Squad to play four matches in the 2022-23 UEFA Nations League matches in June 2022 against the Netherlands, two times against Poland and Wales.
Amadou made his full international debut, against the Netherlands on June 03, 2022. On November 10, 2022, Onana was named in the 26-man squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He made two appearances at the tournament during the match against Canada and Morocco but was suspended for Belgium‘s final match in the tournament where they lost against Croatia and were eliminated.
In May 2024, Onana was selected in the 26-man squad for the UEFA Euro 2024 where he played four matches with a total play time of 360 minutes. He ended the campaign with no goals or assists.
