Unai Emery’s Aston Villa has completed a 50m euro deal for Everton’s midfielder Amadou Onana on a complete transfer ahead of the Champions League campaign.
The 22-year-old midfielder Amadou Onana has made 72 appearances for Everton after joining from Lille for 30M Euros in 2022. He played for Belgium in 2024 at Euro 2024 where the side was knocked out by France in the group of 16.
“Aston Villa is delighted to announce the signing of Amadou Onana from Everton,” the club said on their website.

Aston Cilla has already bought two central midfielders Enzo Barrenechea and Ross Barkly from Juventus and Luton Town.
He is the second expensive signing for Aston Villa after Moussa Diaby who joined the side from Bayer Leverkusen for 52 million euros. He is the eighth signing for the side of the Summer transfer window after Ian Maatsen, Barrenecha, Samuel lling-Junior, Barkley, Lewis Dobbin, Cameron Archer, and Jaden Philogene.
He will be flying to Saudi Arabia before moving to Al-Ittihad to sign a five-year contract until 2029 with a salary of 20 million euros per year.
While speaking about joining the club, Onana said, “I’ll be playing in the Champions League again and that’s very exciting. We also have a manager that’s one of the best in the business and I think he can take my game to the next level.”
He will be joining with the Belgium teammate Youri Tielemans who convinced him to join the midlands club. The club has spent about 140 Million euros this summer.
“Youri played a big part in me being here because he told me lots of good stuff about the club,” said Onana.
Aston Villa has not found a replacement for Douglas Luiz, but Unai Emery’s side is getting a player of immense potential. While playing for Everton, he wasn’t admired by their supporters, but his arrival in Villa will simply bolster the depth in all departments.
Aston Villa who completed as fourth in the previous edition of the Premier League is gearing up for the challenges of Champions League competition. The side has not featured in the league since the 1982-83 season when they won the European Cup.
With the Premier League 2024-25 season set to begin on August 17, they will play their opener match against West Ham at London Stadium.
