Australian Seamer Tom Rogers has joined Kent for the second block of Vitality T20 Blast 2024 group games after the departure of Xavier Bartlett and Wes Agar.
Tom Rogers Joins Kent for T20 Blast
Kent Cricket is very pleased to announce Tom Rogers joining Kent to play in the final six matches in the Vitality Blast South Group fixture. The 30-year-old Bowling all-rounder Tom Rogers has numerous experience in the Big Bash League with Renegades and Hobart Hurricanes but is set to make his first stint in County cricket. Rogers has 60 wickets at 24.78 with an economy of 8.38.
Rogers’s inclusion will bolster Kent’s bowling attack in the Blast, with Xavier has played only the first eight games in the group stages and Wes Agar will be returning to Australia due to a shoulder injury. Bowling right-arm medium-fast pace and batting left-handed, Rogers has a batting strike rate of more than 100.00 and a bowling strike rate of 17.73.
Kent currently stands from the second bottom of the South Group, having won only two games, but still has chances for getting into contention for a top-four spot.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to play in the Vitality Blast and I’m excited to be joining Kent,” Rogers said. “We know that every game is vital for us now, and I want to do my part in getting results as a Spitfire in the near future.”
Rogers will be available for Kent’s next match against Gloucestershire on July 05 at College Ground, Cheltenham. “We’re pleased to have got Tom on board to sure-up our bowling options going into the ‘business end’ of this South Group stage. He has a lot of experience and skills that will be useful to us with both the ball and the bat, too,” Kent’s Director of Cricket, Simon Cook concluded.
