Freiburg Vs Eintracht Frankfurt in Bundesliga
As the Bundesliga match between Freiburg and Frankfurt is about to happen, Freiburg will host Eintracht Frankfurt at the Europa Park-Stadion on Wednesday night in another round of the German Bundesliga campaign.
The home side have enjoyed a largely solid campaign and will fancy themselves among the favorites to secure Champions League football at the end of the season. Freiburg as being in the top of the table of the Bundesliga points table tries to defend its position by making a victory of this match
Freiburg sit fourth in the league table with 30 points from 16 games and will be hopeful of adding to that tally on Wednesday.
Frankfurt have also performed well this season, steadily climbing up the table after a slow start to the season.
The hosts will have a point to prove here after slipping from second down to fourth on the back of their biggest defeat in the 11 years of Christian Streich’s reign as head coach. The 57-year-old said his Freiburg side “didn’t have a chance” in the 6-0 loss at Wolfsburg on Saturday, so he will be demanding a reaction from his charges here.
He is likely to make changes given his team’s disappointing display and will hope playmaker-in-chief and leading goalscorer Vincenzo Grifo can be one of those after he missed the Wolfsburg game through illness. Philipp Lienhart should come in at centre-back as well.
The Black Forest club can certainly not afford a repeat performance against this visiting Frankfurt side. Kolo Muani, who underlined his reputation with impressive outings for France at the World Cup, registered his 10th assist of the campaign when he teed up Jesper Lindstrom for the Eagles’ opener against Schalke at the weekend, that goal paving the way for an eventual 3-0 triumph.
Now the closest challengers to leaders Bayern Munich ahead of the final fixture of the Hinrunde, Frankfurt will be eager to continue their robust away form which has seen them collect 14 points from seven road trips – especially ahead of a weekend trip to Munich.
They will have to do so without midfielder Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe though, as the Frenchman was substituted off with an ankle injury on Saturday and will be out for a few weeks after having surgery.
