Chris Jordan becomes first England bowler to register hat-trick in T20Is

Surrey cricketer Christopher James Jordan alias Chris Jordan becomes the first England bowler to bag a hat-trick in T20I format. Chris Jordan achieved this massive feat during England’s clash against the United States on June 23 in Barbados which is also his birthplace.

Chirs Jordan dismissed United States’ Ali Khan(0), Nosthush Kenjige(0) and Netravalkar(0) to bag his maiden T20I hat trick.

Jordan is a Bajan-English cricketer who made his international T20I debut in 2014 played 94 T20Is so far. With nearing the triple-digit mark, Jordan’s achievement will give him a boost to serve the country for an extended period of time.

The 35-year-old right-handed bowler so far bagged 105 wickets at an average of 26.76 in his 94 T20I appearances. Apart from securing his maiden T20I hat-trick wicket, Jordan also bagged another wicket and ended up with an impressive figure of 2.5 overs – 10 runs – 4 wickets.

Jordan’s hat-trick against the US will be the second of its kind on the same day. In the morning, Australian pacer Pat Cummins bagged his second T20 World Cup hat-trick against Afghanistan while in noon, Jordan bagged England’s first T20I hat-trick.

Notably, Jordan bagged all his four wickets in the 19th over and ended the first inning with an over left to bowl. With Chris Jordan’s tight bowling in the death overs, England contained the US for just 115 runs.

To qualify for the semi-finals, England was in need of chasing the target in 18.4 overs or fewer which Buttler and Salt achieved in just 9.4 overs. With a 10-wicket victory over the United States, England qualified for 2024 T20 World Cup semi-finals.

During the innings break, Hat-trick wicket-taker Chris Jordan revealed his excitement over scripting history in his home town.

“Unbelievable feeling (to take the hattrick), was good to restrict them. Getting it (hattrick) at a special place (Barbados – his birthplace) is always nice. Glad I was able to hit on the target. Just finished it off towards the end. We summed up the conditions pretty well, we knew they will came hard at us in the powerplay, USA have been playing well in the tournament. Rashid set up the game for us. Points first and foremost”, Chris Jordan said.
