England’s cricket team broke their own record as they scored the fastest team fifty in Test Cricket history during the second test against West Indies at Trent Bridge on Thursday.
England sets World Record on Day 01 of 2nd Test
The Three Lions went on a rampage as Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope put on a power-hitting display as they scored 50 runs in just 4.2 overs. This is the first time in 147 years that a team has reached 50 runs in less than 27 deliveries. They broke their own record of reaching 50 runs in 4.3 overs against South Africa in 1994 at The Oval.
Fastest team 50s in Test cricket:

West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite won the toss and opted to bowl. After being bowled out for 121 and 136 runs in the first test match, he chose to bowl first at Nottingham.
“It looks like a good cricket pitch, but I think we’ll utilize what we get today,” said Brathwaite. With the ball, we could be a lot more disciplined. That’s one thing we’ve talked about. Batting-wise, we’ve got to build partnerships and score at least 300 runs in the first innings,” said Kraigg Brathwaite.
While England captain Ben Stokes said, “It was a tough one if we’d have won the toss. I’ll keep to myself what we were going to do.”
After the early dismissal of Zak Crawley for a duck, Ben Duckett, and Ollie Pope put the visitors in the driver’s seat scoring 105 partnership runs. England scored 134 runs before the lunch break.
Resuming the match after lunch, Joe Root and Harry Brook both fell in the afternoon session too, but the visitors lost the chance of dismissing Pope twice. Ollie Pope hit his Sixth Test Century and scored 121 runs while Ben Duckett scored 71 in the match. With Ben Stokes’s 69 runs, England was able to score 416 runs by the end of day 01 at Trent Bridge.
