Fulham has made a 20 Million Euros bid for Central Midfielder Scott McTominay, but his future remains uncertain as Manchester United is anticipated to reject the offer. Speaking on the club’s pre-season tour of the United States, United manager Erik ten Hag said he is “pleased” to have McTominay in the squad, but stopped short of saying the 27-year-old Scotland international would remain at the club.
The Old Trafford club is trying to generate funds to buy new players as defender Leny Yoro, who is set to miss three months, and striker Rasmus Hojlund also be sidelined due to the same issue.
McTominay is moving into the prime years of his career and wants to be a first-team regular. He had made 32 Premier League appearances for United last season. He also did start the FA Cup final victory over Manchester City at Wembley.
McTominay featured in the number 10 role in Wednesday’s 3-2 pre-season win over Real Betis in San Diago. Bruno Fernandes is still to join the main group for training after his exertions at Euro 2024, Mason Mount hoping to remain fit and Casemiro is still at the club when many thought he may make a summer move to the Saudi Pro-league, a deal may eventually be done for the scot.
While speaking about the player’s future Ten Hag spoke about how impressed he was with the former United academy player.
“I am so pleased with the performance of Scott and so pleased to have him in my squad,” said the Dutchman. Scott has a huge impact on team performances with his spirit and playing in the advanced position he is so important.”
Ten Hag is a huge fan of the versatile squad player and has already reiterated his desire it to keep him at the club, though there is an obvious reason why it might be taken out of his hands.
“If you score 10 goals in a season and perform very well for Scotland there will be an interest. We want to keep him because he’s a very important player for our squad. We’ve seen what he can contribute last season. When we had the sixes and he could play in a more advanced role, he’s a highly interesting player for our team,” concluded Erik Ten Hag.
