The news about the exit and joining Barcelona is not officially announced by both of the clubs, city have a practical approach due to Player’s age and length of contract he was seeking, keeping with similar situations over recent years.
Ilkay Gundogan had some talks with City over a new deal, with his contract set to expire at the end of June. The length of the deal on offer was for one year plus an option of a further 12 months. Arsenal were also interested in Gundagon.
The Borussia Dortmund midfielder has won five Premier league titles, two FA cups, four league Cups and the Champions league in his stay for Seven years at city. On the other hand Arsenal agrees to sign Chelsea Havertz on 65 million euros on this transfer window.
Gundagon lifted three trophies in 2022/23 season becoming the second treble winner English club. Man city have agreed a £30m deal to sign midfielder Mateo Kovacic which would go some way to compensating for the loss of Gundagon.

Paris Saint Germain are interested in signing him, while Barcelona are also long-term admirers of the Portugal international. Silva would stay and sign a new long term contract, having been instrumental in the achievements last season, winning the champions league, Premier league and FA cup trophies.
However, Silva is understood to have considered a move away from City last summer, which did not materialise.

Gundogan joined Manchester City in July 2016 from Borussia Dortmund, for whom he made 105 league appearances in total, scoring 10 goals and providing 14 assists.
At the age of 25 years and 328 days, Gundogan made a good start to his Premier League career on September 17, 2016 for Manchester City. The German midfielder scored in his opening match in the competition against Bournemouth. Overall, in his Premier League career, he has played 188 times in the competition, with 44 goals and 16 assists.
