Hertha Berlin vs Augsburg highlights
Hertha Berlin hosted Augsburg at the Olympia stadion on Saturday (February 25) in the Bundesliga.
The hosts have struggled under manager Sandro Schwarz this season, finding themselves in the relegation zone. After their 4-1 win over Borussia Monchengladbach a fortnight ago, the Old Lady lost 4-1 to second-placed Borussia Dortmund in their last outing. Hertha sit 17th in the league table with just 17 points.
Augsburg, meanwhile, have had mixed results in the league since the restart but have picked up points to pull away from the drop zone. They picked up a narrow but well-deserved 1-0 win over Hoffenheim last time out, with Fredrik Jensen coming off the bench to score a late winner from a corner.
17th and 13th will meet in the Bundesliga this weekend as Hertha Berlin welcomes Augsburg to the German capital with the home side aiming to get just their fifth win of the season and pull Augsburg closer to relegation in the process.
It’s been another terrible season for Hertha this campaign and they have now moved back into automatic relegation after a loss to Borussia Dortmund last weekend. Lucas Tousart would score for the club in the 4-1 loss, as Hertha had nine shots on target at Signal Iduna Park.
Sandro Schwarz’s men did manage to defeat Borussia Monchengladbach two weeks ago, however, as Jessic Ngankam, Marton Dardai, Derry Scherhant and Dodi Lukebakio all got in on the act.
As for Augsburg, they’ve managed to win twice in February from their three games so far, as only Mainz has defeated them within the past three weeks.
The club have gone on to defeat Bayer Leverkusen 1-0 and Hoffenheim 1-0, with both victories coming on home soil. Regardless of this decent run of form, the club sit in 13th and only above the drop zone by five points.

The visitors have proven very inconsistent of late, backing up victory with defeat more than once and have lost their last three Bundesliga fixtures on the road, shipping nine goals in the process. This is a golden opportunity for Hertha and they are worth backing to secure either a draw, or victory via the double chance market.
Augsburg were better able to up their tempo at the start of the second period, with a few quick attacks and testing crosses delivered in the opening minutes. The visitors were unable to convert that into a sustained period of dominance, and Tolga Cigerci sent the hosts’ first effort of the half into Rafal Gikiewicz’s hands from 25 metres out.
Hertha’s confidence was building, and they suddenly struck as a Marvin Plattenhardt free-kick was cleared out to Marco Richter 20 metres from goal – and the former Augsburg man dispatched a stunning drive into the corner of the net. Mergim Berisha twisted at the other end and sent a shot wide as the visitors sought to bounce back. Augsburg’s pressure gave space for the hosts to exploit and seal the win – as Lukebakio raced to meet an Agustin Rogel free-kick and finished tidily in the box for a hard-fought but ultimately deserved home win.
