England’s slow left-arm Jack Leach picked a six-wicket haul during the One Day Cup victory at the Riverside. His bowling prowess helped Somerset to restrict Durham to 108 runs.
After a stunning performance from Lewis Goldsworthy, picking up 93 runs in their innings, Somerset posted a total of 241 runs. Their attack ensured that Somerset defended the total to collect the second win in this season’s competition.
Durham was eventually dismissed 108 runs with Scott Borthwick’s 35 runs providing visitors comfort win. Somerset’s innings started with a struggle when Andy Umeed was caught behind Bas de Leede for a duck in the second over.

Thomas and Lewis Goldsworthy joined hands to produce some stability in the innings and scored a partnership run of 119 for the second wicket in 27 overs when Colin Ackermann struck twice in two balls.
Ackermann picked two wickets dismissing George Thomas and James Rew in a row. He completed his ten-over spell for 2/35. Ackermann and George Drissell had delivered their twenty overs for 79 runs.
Sean Dickson joined Goldsworthy in a 65-run stand before Coughlin picked wickets in successive deliveries. Dickson scored 37 while Joshua Thomas has been sent on a golden duck.
Coughlin took his third wicket when Goldsworthy was sent out for 93 runs and the last six overs of the innings. Bushnell picked two wickets in the final over. Coughlin finished 3 for 47and de Leede picked 2 for 53.
In the pursuit of chasing 242 runs, Alex Lees and Ben McKinney scored 40 in eight overs but lost wickets for 8 runs. McKinney scored 17 runs during Ogborne’s over as Jack Leach picked the catch.
Leach struck twice in his first over, first by having Ackermann caught behind for four and then bowling Michael Jones for a fourth ball duck. Charlie Cassell made his debut for the side and bowled three overs conceding only 9 runs.
Durham’s batting started to crumble when Leach picked the wicket of de Leede for 12. He dismissed Bushnell for a duck on lbw. At that stage, Leach picked four wickets for 11 runs in 3.3 overs. Durham scored only 70 when they lost six wickets.
Leach completed his five-wicket haul when he caught Paul Coughlin by Rew for a single and took his sixth wicket when Haydon Mustard was similarly dismissed for 12. Finally, the dismissal of Drissell for one run ended the match and favored a 133-run victory to Somerset.
