The 29-year-old fast bowler Jofra Archer has highlighted his strong desire to feature in the 2025-26 Ashes next year and said that he will do everything to play against Australia.

Jofra Archer returned to action during the T20 World Cup 2024, his first international appearance since March 2023 after a long injury break. He hasn’t played any tests in three years and England management has stated about not rushing the player back into the long format.

But Archer explained that he is tired of comments about him saying he might be injured for a long time while speaking in the media.

“I am going to use the rest of this year to make sure that is at least a possibility. I’m tired of going on Instagram and seeing posts saying ‘he’s going to be on the physio’s bed in the next two weeks’ and stuff like that. I want to spend the rest of the year proving some people wrong and hopefully play in another Ashes.”

Recently, England’s test captain Ben Stokes also spoke about Archer’s desire to play in the long format. Despite his comeback, Stokes said that he doesn’t want to be rushed soon. Archer stated that he is keen on playing in the county championship next year as the preparations for the test cricket.

“I will manage myself as best as possible and get myself [through] until at least maybe the start of the Championship next year. I’ll probably play a few of those [games] and keep building up and getting that workload ready for Test cricket,” he said in the same interview.

He also revealed his excitement for his The Hudred Debut this year. “I am feeling good and want to get some games in. I am going to enjoy this little phase of some white-ball cricket,” he added. He is set to feature for Southern Brave during the match against London Spirit on July 24 at The Rose Bowl.
