Leicestershire has revealed that the seamer Josh Hull has penned a three-year contract extension with the club. The 19-year-old has made 23 appearances across formats for the side and was part of the triumphant One Day Cup-winning side of the 2023 season where he picked the key wicket of Liam Dawson in the final over.
Due to his impressive performance, he was picked up by Manchester Originals for The Hundreds in this season. He was acknowledged by Rob Key, England Cricket Managing Director, and discussed the importance of England bowler touching 85 kmph as a minimum.
“The attributes I have is maximizing my height, pace, and bounce, so hearing that lets you play with a bit more freedom as well. It takes a bit of pressure off your shoulders as well just to know that you can go out there, run in, and try and bowl quickly and make things happen. That is definitely a direction I want to go in, so it is nice hearing that.”
While Speaking in the media, Josh Hull said, “I’m thrilled to extend my time with Leicestershire. I absolutely loved my first year as a professional and I’m excited for the next few seasons ahead.
“If you told me all the things I’d achieve last year, I’d have snapped your hand off. To finish off with a trophy, winning the One Day Cup, it was very special. Hopefully, we can make more memories like that.
“I love the group of lads and the coaches here, as well as the vibe and the whole feeling around the Club. I have a really good relationship with Fonz [Alfonso Thomas], he has so much knowledge, and being able to tap into that is great. I feel Leicestershire is the best place for me to develop and grow as a player.”
Leicestershire club is currently committed to the T20 Blast 2024 and secured one victory out of two matches. Leicestershire will play their next match against Durham on June 07 at Uptonsteel County Ground.
