Nottm forest signs new transfers for the Club
Nottm Forest completed the transfer of the PSG goalkeeper Keylor Navas, so of the transfer will be about to complete a triple transfer signing on the end of the day. After the additions of Atlético Madrid defender Felipe and Newcastle midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, Navas a three-time Champions League winner at Real Madrid signed on loan for the rest of the season.
Clubs are into the final chapters of being able to do business before the transfer ends. The Reds have already brought in a few new faces this month, but injuries have had a significant impact on their plans. They are looking to add a goalkeeper as cover for Dean Henderson, while bringing in a centre-back is also a priority, with Atletico Madrid’s Felipe in their sights.
With Forest already at the limit of their 25-man Premier League squad, incomings will require others to make way. Summer signing Lewis O’Brien could be among those heading elsewhere.
The 31 year-old was attracting attention from Stoke City, Luton Town and Blackburn Rovers as the teams circled ahead of a potential deadline day loan move.
Keylor Navas Transfer news Nottm Forest
Goalkeeper Keylor Navas has completed a deadline day move to Nottingham Forest.
The Reds were keen to bring in goalkeeping reinforcements during the transfer window following an injury to Dean Henderson. The Manchester United loanee is expected to be sidelined for between four to five weeks after suffering a thigh problem during the victory over Leicester City earlier this month.
Jonjo Shelvey transfer news Nottm Forest
Nottingham Forest have completed the deadline day signing of midfielder Jonjo Shelvey.
The Reds have confirmed the arrival of the 30-year-old from Newcastle United on a two-and-a-half-year deal. He follows Gustavo Scarpa, Danilo, Magpies loanee Chris Wood and Felipe in putting pen to paper this month.
Shelvey brings with him plenty of Premier League experience. He made more than 200 appearances for Newcastle in his seven years at St James’ Park, having joined from Swansea City in January 2016. He also counts Liverpool, Blackpool and Charlton Athletic as his former clubs.
Felipe on Transfer news Nottm Forest
Nottingham Forest have sealed the deadline day signing of defender Felipe.
The 33-year-old centre-back has put pen to paper with the Reds after completing a move from Atletico Madrid in a deal said to be worth roughly £2m. He follows Gustavo Scarpa, Danilo and Chris Wood in linking up with Steve Cooper’s squad during the January window.
Defensive reinforcements have been on Forest’s shopping list all month as they prepare for the second half of the season. The club fought off competition from elsewhere to secure Felipe’s signature, and he made the trip to the Nigel Doughty Academy earlier today to complete the formalities on a deal which will keep him at the City Ground until 2024.
Wrote this last week, amid Forest’s interest in Navas. Not sure my opinion has changed too much. At any other time, a good signing, but think it comes with as many questions as answers at this point.
At any other time, Nottingham Forest chasing Keylor Navas would be viewed as a decent bit of transfer business.
Nottingham Forest defender Steve Cook will stay at the City Ground today, despite interest from a number of Championship clubs.
The 31 year-old was attracting attention from Stoke City, Luton Town and Blackburn Rovers as the teams circled ahead of a potential deadline day loan move.
A goalkeeper with vast experience and a jam-packed trophy cabinet who made more than 100 league appearances for Real Madrid before joining PSG. A three-time Champions League winner and a Costa Rica international. Navas has certainly got pedigree.
The dilemma for the Reds, though, is whether they really need him. And what the knock-on impact of signing him would be.
