The Pakistan Cricket Board will most likely change the venue for the England tour of Pakistan 2024 starting on October 07. The Sports body is currently prepared for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 which is set to begin in February.
Most venues in the country that will witness the clashes of the ICC event are currently under renovation. On this occasion, the Pakistan cricket team is scheduled to play a three-match test series against England on their home soil.
Earlier the reports that the Test series would be shifted to a neutral venue. PCB will announce the schedule for the series within two days. PCB has decided to hold the test matches in Multan and Rawalpindi, with plans to host the first two tests in Multan. Karachi as a venue was made due to ongoing construction work.
“While the exact schedule for the series remains confirmed, the PCB intends to capitalize on the conditions in Multan by hosting two Tests there. However, an alternative option is to hold the first and third Tests in Rawalpindi” the report added.
However, England has announced their squad for the Pakistan tour where the injured Ben Stokes is returning to the national side after getting injured in August. The England captain is set to undergo a scan next week to assess his readiness for the first test.
Meanwhile, England secured a 2-1 victory against Sri Lanka at home under the captaincy of Ollie Pope. England is currently involved in the ODI series against Australia which leads 1-0 with a win in the first ODI.
On the other hand, PCB has yet to announce its squad for the series. Pakistan recently lost a two-match test series against Bangladesh. Meanwhile, Pakistan cricketers are currently participating in their domestic Champions Cup.
It is reported that Shan Masood’s side will look to change Pakistan’s fortunes in the upcoming test series against England at home in February 2021.
