England’s test captain Ben Stokes has sustained a hamstring injury during a match in The Hundred 2024 has created doubts about his availability for the Sri Lanka Tests which starts on August 21.
He is set to undergo scans on August 12 as the first test against Sri Lanka starts in less than 10 days. Ben Stokes who plays for Northern Superchargers, was forced to retire hurt during the chase of the match against Manchester Originals. He pulled up a sore while attempting a quick single while playing for the side.
He was guided by the people on both sides clutching his left hamstring and was seen moving around with the help of crutches after the game.
A fresh injury concern for England’s #WTC25 push.

“It doesn’t look great unfortunately but I think he’ll be getting a scan tomorrow and see how he is,” said Brook. If Stokes is to be ruled out of the first test against Sri Lanka, Ollie Pope will be leading England on the home ground in the quest of moving forward in the ICC WTC points table.
Under Ben Stokes’ captaincy, England has recently sealed a 3-0 series sweep against West Indies and moved to sixth position in the WTC points table. Following the three tests against Sri Lanka, England will be traveling to Pakistan in October for a three-match test series.
The first test match against Sri Lanka will begin on August 21 at Old Trafford Cricket Ground.
