The top order batter Dawid Malan retires from International Cricket who was once ranked as the No. 1 T20I batter after being snubbed out for the ODI and T20I series against Australia.
The 37-year-old top-order batter last played for England in the ODI World Cup 2023 and has scored a century in each of the formats after making his international debut in the T20I against South Africa in 2017.
He has played 22 Tests, 30 ODIs, and 62 T20Is for England and amassed 4416 runs. He had smashed 16 fifties and a century in the T20I format while having five ODI centuries in just 15 innings.
While speaking about his retirement announcement, Malan said, “It has been an incredible journey since July 2017. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to play for England in all three formats.
“Cricket, like most sports, is an industry where almost everyone eventually retires wishing they had done that little bit more. Whether you’ve played ten Tests or 100, many step away regretting not playing just one more, scoring a few more runs, or winning more trophies.

“Right now, as I retire from international cricket, I can say I am genuinely satisfied. It has not been easy. It may be my nature, but for whatever reason, it has always seemed that I had something to prove and often felt as if I was playing for my place.”
“The pressure goes with the territory, but it does take a mental and physical toll. Even so, I look back with pride on what I have been able to achieve.”
He will be likely to play franchise cricket across the globe now after his international retirement. He has also played one game in IPL for Punjab Kings during the 2021 edition at the height of his T20 powers.
He was also part of the Oval Invincibles squad that won The Hundred 2024 and is likely to play a big role in SA20 for Sunrisers Easterncape where the side won the 2024 edition of the league.
