After sealing a series victory against West Indies in the three-match Test series, England will seek a series whitewash at Edgbaston. During the West Indies tour of England 2024, a total of three tests were scheduled to be played between July 10 and 30 in three different venues in England.
The hosts won the first two games and sealed a series victory. Though England won the series they will look for a series whitewash to improve their position in the ICC WTC points table.
England is currently positioned in the sixth spot of the WTC points table with a PCT(Points percentage system) of 31.25. A win in the third and final test might pump their points which in turn can push their position forward.
Speaking of the playing 11 for the final test, as expected, Ben Stokes and Co. remained unchanged. The hosts executed an impressive performance in the second test which clinched them the series victory.
The Three Lions won the second test by 241 runs with a total of three centuries from the England batters. Ollie Pope was crowned as the Player of the Match for his extraordinary batting performance. He scored a century and half-century in the first and second innings respectively and paved the way for England to post a mammoth total.
Apart from his batting skill, Shoaib Bashir’s five-wicket haul in the second inning also played a vital role in England’s success in the second test game at Nottingham. Without many mistakes to correct, Englands were expected to feature in the same set of playing 11 for the final test.
As expected ECB announced their unchanged playing XI for the third and final test at Edgbaston, Birmingham.
On the other hand, West Indies will be keen to win this game to avoid a series whitewash. The match will begin at 11:00 AM Local.
