Inaki Williams tweet against Var Controversial decision
With Inaki Williams appeared to be confident with levelling the score with Barcelona in the last minutes of the match, VAR check was adjudged that Iker Munlain handled the ball build up in th goal. He was not happy about the controversial decision by VAR at the equaliser goal, so he made up his statement in his tweet after the game. His sarcastic tweet “HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA” as he kind of mocking VAR about his decision.
Atheltic club Captain Oscar de Marcos spoke after the match,” It is normal that we are annoyed, You can’t celebrate goals now. It was a bit dodgy, I didn’t see it but they told me it looks like a shoulder. With all the work we did, to end with this feeling always hurt.
Athletic Club are now five points behind sixth-placed Villarreal as they continue their hunt for European football next year. Ernesto Valverde’s side will hope to close that gap as they play Real Valladolid on Friday.
What Happened on the field
Brothers Inaki and Nico Williams threatened early on while Raúl García had an attempt hit off the woodwork.
Meanwhile, the return of Robert Lewandowski and Gavi aided the visitors, as the Poland international was eager to get back amongst the goals, and the Spaniard made challenges left, right and centre.
Eventually, the opener came thanks to some veteran experience as Sergio Busquets slotted the ball over to Raphinha and made things 1-0 after being confirmed onside by VAR.

This time, however, more of the chances to find the back of the net came through Athletic Club’s attackers.

Two last-second goal-line clearances then broke even more Athletic hearts in the end as they fall short of stealing points off the league leaders.
There was still plenty of time remaining as the lengthy goal review led to seven minutes of added time, and Athletic threw caution to the wind looking for the equalizer. They came incredibly close when Yuri Berchiche found himself all alone inside the box and fired a rocket into the net, but Jules Kounde made an incredible goal-line clearance and kept Barca in front.
