West Ham reject Man City £90m bid for Rice
As Man city had submitted bid for West Ham captain, West Ham reject Man City £90m bid for Rice for the third time. Man City offer was thought to have included a £80m initial payment but it is not upto the level where West Ham was expecting. They were surely demanding more than £100m. Man city’s second bid was rejected by West Ham on the mid of this month.
On the other hand, they are waiting for Arsenal’s third bid for the Midfielder. Arsenal second proposal of an initial £75m in four payments, plus £15m in add-ons was turned down by West Ham last week.
Declan Rice’s contract with West Ham expires in 2024, although it has the option for a one year extension until next summer 2025.
After the Europa conference league finals victory over Firoentina on the starting of the month, the club chairman David Sullivan said he was sure that Delcan Rice would leave West Ham this Summer.
Although Man City has signed up Chelsea’s Mateo Kovacic in a £25m deal, they are planning to back-up the loss of Ilkay Gundagon who moved to Barcelona on free transfer.
City manager Pep Guardiola is keen to coverup his midfield options, with Rice will be the perfect candidate.
Rice will leave West Ham after the end of this season after the midfielder captained the club to their first European trophy in 58 years.
West Ham chairman David Sullivan said a gentleman’s agreement means Rice can leave despite a year remaining on his contract with the option to extend for further 12 months.
The 24-year-old played 50 games in all competitions this season as West Ham finished 14th in the Premier League before clinching the Europa Conference League in Prague.
Rice has played more than 200 games for West Ham and also earned 41 caps for England since his international debut in 2019. Manchester United have an interest in Rice and there have been discussions internally about how possible it would be to sanction a deal. Man City had signed Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea for £30m.
Due to Financial Fair Play rules, it is unlikely United could spend a huge portion of their budget on one player – especially as they have other areas they want to strengthen.
West Ham have agreed to let Rice go this summer but want a deal worth £120m if they are to sanction their captain’s departure. West ham had won over Fiorentina with 2-1 on the Europa Conference league at Prague.
